Our Story

From the muscadine vines of Monroe County to your glass — the story of Cider Horse.

How It Started

Born from the Vine

Cider Horse was born in 2023 at Tsali Notch Vineyard — a place where the land tells its own story. Tsali Notch had long been celebrated for its award-winning muscadine wines, but the team saw an opportunity to bring something new to the table: a bold, refreshing hard cider that captured the wild character of the muscadine grape.

The result was Cider Horse — a 6.5% ABV hard cider crafted from muscadine fruit grown right here on the vineyard's 202 acres, blended with apples from the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Light, crisp, and unapologetically Tennessee.

The name? A nod to the spirited, untamed nature of the muscadine — and the wild beauty of the land it grows on. Rein in a little wild spirit. Tame your thirst with Cider Horse.

Tsali Notch Vineyard

Tennessee's Largest Muscadine Vineyard

Nestled in Monroe County, Tennessee, within the picturesque Tennessee Overhill Heritage Area and en route to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway, Tsali Notch Vineyard is a hidden gem surrounded by stunning mountain vistas.

Named for the historic Cherokee leader Tsali, the vineyard spans 202 acres with over 6,000 vines flourishing on 21 miles of trellis. The estate grows six varieties of muscadine — the bold, antioxidant-rich grape native to the American Southeast.

Every fall, the public is invited to pick muscadines right off the vine. It's a time of celebration, connection, and the kind of joy that only comes from being close to the land.
