America's Wild Grape

Why Muscadine?

The muscadine is no ordinary grape. Native to the American Southeast, it thrives in the warm, humid climate of Tennessee's foothills — producing thick-skinned, intensely flavored fruit that's unlike anything grown in a California vineyard.

Muscadines are among the foods highest in resveratrol and other health-giving antioxidants. At Tsali Notch, they're grown without chemicals, nurtured by the land and the seasons. That's the fruit in your Cider Horse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy Cider Horse hard cider?

Cider Horse is available online through Vinoshipper and at the Tsali Notch Vineyard tasting room in Madisonville, Tennessee. We also appear at local pop-up markets throughout the Tennessee Overhill region.

What is the alcohol content of Cider Horse?

Both the Red and White Muscadine Hard Ciders are 6.5% ABV — a light, refreshing strength that makes them a great alternative to wine or beer.

What makes Cider Horse different from other hard ciders?

Cider Horse is crafted from muscadine fruit grown on-site at Tennessee's largest muscadine vineyard. Most hard ciders use conventional apples; ours blends muscadine — America's native grape — with mountain apples from North Carolina and Virginia for a truly unique flavor.

Is Cider Horse gluten-free?

Hard cider is naturally gluten-free as it is made from fruit, not grain. However, please contact us directly at [email protected] if you have specific dietary concerns.

Can I visit the vineyard for a tasting?

Yes! The Tsali Notch Vineyard tasting room is open Wednesday–Thursday noon to 6 pm and Friday–Sunday 10 am to 6 pm. Private tastings and tours are also available by appointment.
